Lee David Evans

Lee founded Edfolio with a simple mission: to help the UK's 5 million managers improve their skills for the benefit of themselves, their teams and their organisations. Prior to beginning his career in education and skills, Lee graduated with a degree in Politics, Psychology & Sociology from the University of Cambridge and an MA in International Political Economy from the University of Sheffield. He holds a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and is a Chartered Fellow of the CMI, as well as a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.

Who is this online course for?

This course is for anybody who is in a role that requires them to manage other people. It could be that you're a team leader or supervisor; perhaps you run a small business and have a few staff; or maybe you manage a division of a larger company. The key thing is: if you have responsibility for other people, the way they work and how they perform, this course is for you.

I've never studied leadership and management before. Is that an issue?

Not at all! For this course, we have focused on skills that are relevant for all managers, irrespective of the organisation they work in or their prior learning. If this is your first introduction to management training, we're confident you're in good hands and will get a lot out of this programme.

What happens if I don't keep up with the new unit every week?

Our research has shown that online learning courses can easily become overwhelming. That's why we've staggered this course over six months with a new unit each week. If for any reason you don't manage to complete a unit in a week - or even if you miss it completely - don't worry! The unit will still be there for you to go back to when you are ready. (What's more, you don't need to complete the units in order).

How do I access the course?

Once you enrol, we will send you a confirmation email to welcome you on the course and confirm your start date. You will also receive login details to our Learning System. At Edfolio, we use the LearnWorlds platform as we've found it the best one for us and - more importantly - those who learn with us. 

Are there any tests or assessments involved?

As you work your way through the units, there are optional assessments where you can test yourself against the knowledge contained in the unit. But more important that any test, we encourage you to make "Reflection Notes" with every unit. This is a dedicated space where you can jot down what you are taking away from each unit and how you want to apply that at work. We'll make these available for you as an action plan to apply your new skills in the workplace.

What happens if I'm not satisfied?

We hope you love our courses, but if for any reason you find it isn't for you, just let us know within 30 days of your course beginning and we'll give you a refund. By then, you will have been able to explore five entire units of the course and should know whether the course is a good fit for you or not. We won't ask any questions or quibble over the refund, but if you are able to provide us with some feedback so we can continue to develop and improve our course, we would be grateful.
